NIZZA – CANELLI CoastTOCoast, a trip through the best of Monferrato

Nizza – Canelli. Take a roundtrip through the Monferrato without traveling more than a few steps through the historical cellars of Coppo Winery.

On Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 from 10 am-7 pm, we are proud to invite you to a unique event dedicated to tasting the Monferrato in some of its most authentic enological expressions: Nizza DOCG (100% Barbera) and Moscato d’Asti DOCG from the Canelli subzone.

Nizza – Canelli CoastTOCoast will be an incredible trip through wines, labels, terroirs, and histories of producers who have dedicated a large part of their work towards developing two particular wines from these hills, a territory recognized by UNESCO as part of a World Heritage.

Several of our neighbors will be sharing this mini travel adventure with us, winemaker friends who share productive styles and an approach towards making wine that leaves room for just one goal: high quality and love for our territory. At this wine tasting that will be open to all wine lovers, we will taste their selected wines in addition to two Coppo wines: Riserva della Famiglia Barbera d’Asti Superiore Doc Nizza e il Moncalvina Moscato d’Asti Docg Canelli – hanno voluto condividere quest’avventura alcuni produttori a noi vicini per amicizia, per scelte produttive e per un approccio al vino che in testa ha una cosa soltanto: la qualità e l’amore per la propria terra.

For this reason, on the pages of our blog, we have decided to present the producers of our “roundtrip” through the Monferrato. We want to invite you to discover how truly excellent wines can only prove themselves by demonstrating all their different expressions, a multitude of interpretations created by just as many producers. This is the wonder of Piemontese wine.

Ignazio Giovine founded Armangia in 1988 in Canelli, with a farmer’s heritage that goes back to the 17th century. In Piemontese, Armangia means “to turn the tables,” because as Ignazio writes, “We wanted to return Canelli to the fame it once had, matching that of other great wine cities and removing it from its industrial image that it picked up in the past few decades.” Today, the winery cultivates vineyards in Canelli, Moasca, San Marzano Olivet, and Castel Boglione.

Ignazio will let us taste their Moscato d’Asti Docg Canelli, made from vineyards located within the township of Canelli at about 190 meters above sea level with south-southeast sun exposure.
