Casa Coppo will celebrate the wine festival of Canelli, opening its doors to tourists and wine lovers. Guests of honor include Cantine Ferrari of Trento and the Michelin starred chef Mariuccia Ferrero of Ristorante San Marco
On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 of September, the annual event Canelli Città del Vino returns. During these two days, visitors get the chance to taste the excellent foods, wines, and traditions of this town that resides within a UNESCO World Heritage site. Canelli will effectively transform into an open sky enoteca.
The great Canelli festival will be celebrating its wine and its centuries-old enological tradition. Wineries will open their doors, as well as historical buildings and, most exciting of all, the Underground Cathedrals, including those of Casa Coppo, who will be organizing tastings and visits for the occasion.
In the wineries throughout Canelli and along the streets, with the support of regional Enotecas of Canelli, Astesana, and Nizza Monferrato, visitors may taste a broad selection of wine labels, including historical ones. The selection is bolstered with the participation of five guest territories: Albenga and Pietra Ligure, Trento and the Dolomites, Val d’Orcia, Valle d’Aosta, and the Valtellina.
In addition to the wine, traditional cuisine will also play a central role in the event. With the collaboration of the Pro Loco Borgo Antico Villanuova of Canelli, visitors get the chance to taste all the excellent local foods. For the entire duration of the event, there will also be the Mercato delle Eccellenza and local products, which will have tastings of different extra virgin olive oils.
The city will transform itself into a veritable cornucopia of wine and food products and more. There will also be a rich program of cultural events to pair with the tastings, including traditional events (such as the set-up in an authentic 1800s-era café-bakery in the Sala delle Stelle, with traditional harvest dances and other exhibits), awards (such as the concert and show “Musica, Vino e Territorio,” the 38th competition held in Piedmontese dialect called “Sità ‘d Canej,” with awards for “Modern heroes” and “The roots of quality”), and an exhibition by the Collectors’ Club of Capsules of wine and objects by Eco Design by Made in Langa.
Another important ingredient of Canelli Città del Vino is the music. Musical bands like “Città di Canelli,” artistic-musical groups, and the harpist Anne-Gaëlle Cuif will be accompanying the intense notes of wine with their own notes—musical, that is.
CANELLI CITTÀ DEL VINO AT CASA COPPO
Casa Coppo is one of the historical wineries that will open the doors to their Underground Cathedrals during the event. These unique wine cellars are excavated kilometers underneath the city, and tourists and visitors will be able to visit them during Canelli Città del Vino.
The wine focus will be on Metodo Classico. We will have the honor to host, as our guest, the excellent wines of Cantine Ferrari from Trento, and are delighted to demonstrate the different nuances and characteristics of their prestigious wines.
Winery visits on both days, by reservation only, include a tasting of three wines by Casa Coppo and Ferrari Perlè 2009.
On Saturday, September 24, we will hold a dinner at the winery and serve dishes made by chef Mariuccia Ferrero of the Ristorante San Marco in Canelli (1 Michelin star), accompanied by Casa Coppo and Ferrari Metodo Classico wines in large formats: Magnum Riserva Coppo 2008 and Magnum Ferrari Perlè 2009.
You’re invited!
