Canelli is widely recognized as the undisputed capital of Moscato wines. However, that it continues to produces just as much, if not more, Barbera since the most ancient times is a lesser-known but significant fact if one wants to fully understand the values inherent to the region. The hills that surround Canelli have been densely cultivated with vines for centuries and the 56 hectares owned or managed by the Coppo family are all within this region; with the exception of Nebbiolo and Gavi that distance only a few kilometers. The estate’s philosophy is straightforward and explicit: a wine is produced because it is part patrimony of the history of the locals as well as part of the family’s tradition. This is why Barbera is proposed in all of its guises: an excellent daily table wine or an exceptional version to serve as witness to special occasions.
